Adults! Shimmer & Shine Suncatcher Workshop! Thurs. Feb. 12th 6:30 pm
Shimmer & Shine Suncatcher Workshop
Thursday, February 12th • 6:30 PM
Create something radiant that reflects your inner light!
In this relaxing adult workshop, you’ll explore the art of suncatcher design using an inspiring selection of metal components, patina-finished elements, and sparkling crystals. Guided by your instructor, Tracy Taylor, you’ll experiment with dipping crystals into alcohol inks - watching as they transform into stunning iridescent jewels full of depth and color. You will bend wire, mix textures, connect pieces, and bring your vision to life as you craft a unique hanging suncatcher featuring a beautiful metal cut-work heart as the centerpiece: selecting from a curated assortment of metal and crystal components, each participant will use pliers to shape connections and manipulate balance within their piece. Individual elements - including crystals, chains, and patina-finished metal shapes - can be dipped into alcohol inks to achieve luminous, iridescent surfaces that catch and refract sunlight in dynamic ways.
You’ll explore how form, balance, and visual weight work together to create a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing composition. By the end of the class, each designer will assemble their customized arrangement into a fully constructed suncatcher - featuring a signature cut-work heart at the top in honor of Valentine’s Day. No two pieces will be alike, ensuring a personal and meaningful finished work you can hang proudly or gift to someone special.

About Your Instructor:
Tracy Taylor, the artist who founded the Free Range Art Studio, uses her years of teaching experience and her design degree to bring art to all ages. In addition to the kids and teens workshops, the homeschool art classes, and private art parties, Tracy teaches some pretty amazing adult art workshops! She has a love of alcohol inks, polymer clay, jewlery crafting, and coffee painting to name a few. Tracy grew up in Thornton, but now resides in Unionville with her family and random mix of pets - which includes a pot bellied pig named Lulu! Tracy's background and love of art and teaching create the perfect storm of colors, paints, messes, and experimentation at the Free Range Art Studio! If you join one of Tracy's workshops, you will feel right at home and encouraged to experiment in many ways with the materials and art/design!
