Learn needle felting skills, explore colors, textures, and fibers, and create your own unique fall scene, including pumpkins and wind-swept leaves. Celebrate the changing of the seasons with this vibrant autumnal project. Adults, come solo; come with an adult friend; or come with a little artist!
There's nothing better than the satisfaction of knowing that you spent quality time making something with your own hands - and it's something that you and your family will enjoy for years. A wool felted pumpkin or two and add in a leaf... in your choice of colors! A fall scene is on the agenda at this adult + child art workshop at the Free Range Art Studio.
This is a fun, laid-back "art experience" that brings adults together and allows you to play with ART! Each participant must purchase a ticket/registration and please only register 2 children per adult. Needle felting is addicting and knowing the right techniques and tools of the trade makes it even more enjoyable!
October 18th, we will be hosting local fiber artist Farren Maillie and learning/exploring needle felting.
Needle felting is a process that sculpts wool into any shape you can imagine. In this workshop, we will learn how to shape our wool into beautiful autumn pumpkins, leaves, and more. You can stack your pumpkins, or make 2 side by side and add a wool leaf.
(Wool fibers are covered with scales. In needle felting, we use special barbed needles that lock the scales of the fiber together when we intersect the wool by poking them and interlocking them. What this looks like in "real time" is stabbing fluffy, colorful wool over and over with sharp needles. But no worries...we have finger protectors and lots of experience to guide you! Our favorite fiber artist, Farren, will be using a variety of fibers for this project. This is a beginner friendly class.)

Farren is a self taught fiber artist located in West Chester PA specializing in all things squishy and wool. She is passionate about teaching sustainable and accessible art classes and finds inspiration in our bountiful natural world. Farren loves to source fiber from local farms including her own Corriedale sheep!
