Week 2, July 6-10th: Global Art Lab - Exploring global art through color, texture, and play!
Artists have always learned from the world around them. In Global Art Lab, we explore how artists across the globe have used color, texture, and materials - and then we make it our own!
Global Art Lab is a week-long immersive art camp where young artists explore art traditions from around the world - then reimagine them using bold color, modern materials, and playful ideas! Nothing we do is ordinary, so envision extraordinary projects for this week! Through clay, fiber, metal, ink, and light-based projects, campers experiment, invent, and create functional artwork they’ll be proud to use and display. This camp celebrates curiosity, creativity, and the joy of making.
In Global Art Lab, artists will have the opportunity to create:
Functional Ceramic Art with Guest Artist Terri Davis
Campers will work with Terri Davis, owner and potter at Sweet Songs Pottery, to learn clay handbuilding techniques while creating a one-of-a-kind ceramic jar inspired by vessels from cultures around the world. This special piece will be professionally glazed and fired and available for pickup at a later date. Be sure to follow our favorite Potter on her Instagram here!Metal Tooling & Embossed Art
Using soft metals and hand tools, students will explore texture and pattern while creating embossed metal designs inspired by global folk art and decorative traditions.Glass Mosaic Turkish Candle Holders
Campers will design colorful mosaic lanterns using glass gems and tiles, creating glowing functional art that celebrates light, color, and pattern.Batik-Inspired Art & Resist Dye Techniques
Artists will experiment with resist and dye techniques, creating bold, patterned artwork inspired by traditional batik - reimagined with modern color palettes and playful designs.Ink Paintings & Expressive Line Work
Using brushes, pens, and ink, campers will explore line, movement, and storytelling, creating dynamic ink paintings inspired by global drawing and calligraphy traditions. We liven it up with alcohol inks, watercolor inks, and India inks throughout the week.Handmade Jewelry & Wearable Art
Students will design and create unique jewelry pieces, exploring pattern, texture, and personal symbolism through beads, metals, and mixed materials.- Wet Felting & Soft Sculpture Campers will work with wool fibers and water to create a wet-felted flat mandala, inspired by ancient fiber traditions from around the world and have the option to turn it into a small throw pillow.
- Painting with Global Inspiration Using acrylic paints and mixed media, artists will create vibrant paintings that bring together ideas of color, texture, and pattern explored throughout the week!
Free Range Art's Summer Camp offers a unique opportunity for children ages 6-12 to work with local artists and outdoor educators to make art and explore nature. Give the children in your life an unforgettable summer experience exploring ideas, getting messy in the studio and creek, making art, and having a ton of FUN. Please select your week(s) and how many children per week. Camps are $425/child per week. Please see refund policy and notify us in writing of any food or animal allergies at freerangeartclasses@gmail.com. We will email a health form prior to camp. Drop off and pick up will be expedited for your convenience with a car line in the main parking lot. Drop off begins at 8:50.
Summer Camp Refund Policy
There are no exceptions to our Summer Camp cancellation policy.
We have reserved and held specific spot(s) for your child(ren) which others might have filled. In the event that you need to cancel or transfer to another week, we will do our best to accommodate switching weeks for you when possible. However, if the situation arises that a camp week needs to be canceled our policy is below:
If you cancel on or before April 1st 2026, you will receive a refund minus a $100 fee for each week and child that you are canceling. If you cancel between April 2, 2026 and June 1st 2026, you will receive a 50% refund for each week and child that you are canceling. After June 1st there are no refunds.Make-ups: There are no make-ups or refunds for missed camp days for any reason.
We are a small business striving to make a difference in our local community. As hard as it is for us to not refund full payments, we've made every effort to keep our class sizes manageable and to provide our campers with a personalized experience with a low camper-to-instructor ratio. We hope you understand and make every effort to ensure that your child(ren) can attend the week(s) you selected. We've reserved a spot for them and cannot wait to share the experience with them!
