Week-long Summer Art Camps in 2026!
Explore Creativity!
Summer Camp Registration is at the Bottom of this Page...
Introducing creative, exciting, and unusual ways for children to spend their days during the summer!
At the Free Range Art Studio, our summer camp students will make beautiful hand-crafted projects, experiment with tons of materials, learn the history behind the art, play in nature, learn new art techniques, and develop their creative skills! Our immersive art camps are like no other! Our art studio/woodland setting gives kids a "deep dive" into various art activities, including 2D and 3D work. With the perfect blend of an indoor art studio/outdoor classroom, we will get dirty and even enjoy playing in the creek.
When you enroll your child in an immersive week of our summer camp program, you know they will engage in interactive sessions, thought-provoking discussions, and hands-on projects that put theory into practice. Our team will provide small-group instruction by separating age groups into appropriate pods when necessary, while blending all ages into a cohesive community of campers. With a maximum student/instructor ratio of 1 to 7, your children will enjoy personalized attention and the structure to learn new and sometimes more complicated skills.
Thematic weeks will all explore the materials that we are known for: painting, metal, mixed media, printing, polymer clay, leather, fibers/needle-felting, and multi-material experimentation. We have talented local artists bringing their skills to the students with surprising and fun projects. Our immersive weekly camps are Monday-Friday 9-3:00. Cost: $425/week
2026 Summer Camp Weeks:
Week 1: June 22nd, Ages 9-15
Week 2: July 6th, Ages 6-12

Week 3.5: July 27th, Ages 6-12 (New!)
Week 4: August 3rd, Ages 6-12

Your child will be exposed to creative projects and allowed the freedom to customize them to meet their interests. Every week, an artisan or guest, a specialist in their respective field, will visit, blending art, nature, history, and even live animals.

Our Location:
The Free Range Art Studio is located on one of the earliest properties to be developed in Thornton, PA. Settled in 1682, this property includes a 20' working water wheel. The studio's location on beautiful, historic land gives the Free Range Art Studio students the rare opportunity to learn time-honored creative skills while exploring the creek, historic bridge, and the mill's indoor creek and water wheel.
Our studio is part of The Carriage House Collective at 381 Brinton Lake Road, Thornton, PA. This collective space is a hub of working studios. To learn more about The Carriage House Collective (CHC) go to www.chcthornton.com.
More:
Drop Off and Pick Up: Morning drop-off begins in the main front parking lot at 8:50 am and we will have a teacher waiting to help your child from the car. We understand that many parents are working and we want to help you expedite the drop off. Look for our drop-off sign. Pick-up will be in the same location with a car line. Details will be emailed in early summer.
Lunch: Send your child with a packed peanut-free lunch, snacks, and drinks or water bottle. We will eat lunch and play from 11:30-12:30. Please email us if your child has a food allergy we should be aware of.
Clothing: Please send your child in "play clothes" and a pair of shoes that can get wet, along with a bathing suit if they like to swim in a babbling creek. We will be getting messy and we allow the kids to walk in the creek and play in the woods while exploring/creating!
