Crafts & Kindness Club
(For Kids in Grades 2-6, Next Session Begins 1/12/26)

Hello!  Welcome to the Crafts & Kindness Club page.  The Crafts & Kindness Club is a special art club where the participants (grades 2-6) learn new handcrafting skills using paint, clay, needle felting, printing, leather, alcohol inks, fabric, jewelry, and/or metal.  While honing their crafting skills, they will also create beautiful and thoughtful items for themselves AND others.  Registration for this class is located below the description and photos.

Please scroll to the bottom of this page for an update about the "Shelter Pets Coffee Paintings"!  Our students have learned how to paint with coffee and used their skills to create beautiful portraits of animals from the BVSPCA, which proudly hang in local coffee shops and cafes, raising awareness about shelter pets.  These coffee paintings are available to purchase with a donation to the SPCA.  Paintings are sold at Good Girls Bakery in Exton, PA.

The Crafts & Kindness after-school sessions for kids  (4:15-6:15 pm) are offered in a package of 6 sessions.  The Fall 2025 session began October 6th, and the dates are 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 12/15, and a FREE HOLIDAY BONUS/MAKEUP CLASS 12/22, where the kids can do a variety of fun projects.  The next session will begin 1/12/26 and the link to register will be posted soon!

This special art club has been created with the idea that spreading kindness and "paying it forward" is essential to developing the human spirit.  Students are taught skills that enable them to make items of quality that are more than just "crafts" - they are functional art pieces or paintings with a purpose.

Additionally, students will learn a little about the nonprofit or entity for which their items are being made, and can enclose a note of kindness with their handcrafted items.  Examples of items the group has made or plans to make: stuffed animal teddy bears with handpainted shirts and necklaces for Nemours Children's Hospital; beautiful handmade specialty soaps and polymer clay soap dishes;  leather dog collars for animal shelters and leather bracelets for our students (all dyed and stamped with metal tags); handcrafted containers for flower arrangements for the elderly via "Petals Please" nonprofit; polymer clay backpack charms that hold supportive hidden messages for kids who have experienced loss; handpainted fabric bags donated to the Chester County Food Cupboard holding supplies such as cake mix, icing, birthday plates, and ingredients for a birthday cake party; metal stamped zipper pulls for winter jackets being distributed to kids, and coffee painted shelter pet portraits to hang/sell in coffee shops to raise awareness...

Learn More About the Shelter Pets Coffee Painting Project:

In the spring of 2025, our "Crafts & Kindness" Art Club students learned how to use coffee as a medium.  They started their journey by learning about values and experimenting with watercolors.  Next, they used their own pets as subjects to paint using coffee.  The studio smelled amazing, and the kids' coffee-painted pets were incredible.  It was at this moment that we decided they were ready to bring their new skills to the public and do something positive with their coffee paintings.  We dreamed... what if we could show the public some of the adorable pets available for adoption at the local BVSPCA?   What if we could raise awareness and just find even 1 pet a new home??

Where would we display these beautiful paintings?  Coffee shops and cafes, of course!  Places where they would feel at home.  Where people gather, enjoy good coffee and food, and linger.  These are the places that bring community TOGETHER.

Two Chester County, PA establishments jumped at the chance to display our coffee paintings:  Good Girls Bakery and Bella Vita Coffee & Cream.  They graciously hung our coffee paintings in their shops and the feedback has been amazing!  These paintings are available for sale at Good Girls Bakery.
