Crafts & Kindness Club
Create. Learn. Give. Make a Difference.
Crafts & Kindness is more than an after-school art club. It’s a creative experience where kids in grades 2–7 learn new skills, explore unexpected materials, and discover that something made with their own hands can make a difference in someone else’s life!
Students work with paint, clay, needle felting, printmaking, leather, alcohol inks, fabric, jewelry, metal, and more, learning techniques that go beyond typical kids’ crafts. We focus on creating quality, functional art and paintings with a purpose - pieces they can be proud to keep, use, give, or share.
And that’s where the kindness comes in.
Throughout the program, students create projects for themselves and for others in our community. One for me + one for you. Along the way, they learn a little about the people or organizations receiving their work and have opportunities to add personal notes of encouragement and kindness.
Projects may include handmade items for children in hospitals, leather collars for shelter animals, handcrafted flower vessels for seniors, encouraging backpack charms for children experiencing loss, birthday bags for local families, holiday cards for soldiers, and artwork created to help shelter pets find homes.
Our hope is simple: teach kids meaningful creative skills, widen their artistic horizons, and show them that their creativity has the power to bring a little more good into the world!
Have an idea for a local organization or special recipient who could benefit from our students’ creativity? We’d love to hear from you at freerangeartclasses@gmail.com.
Please scroll to the bottom of this page for an update about the "Shelter Pets Coffee Paintings" - our ongoing initiative to help the BVSPCA collect passive financial donations through the sale of our students' coffee paintings of pets! Our students have learned how to paint with coffee and used their skills to create beautiful portraits of animals from the BVSPCA, which proudly hang in local coffee shops and cafes, raising awareness about shelter pets. These coffee paintings are available to purchase with a donation to the SPCA. Paintings are currently sold at Good Girls Bakery in Exton, PA, and have been displayed at Bella Vita Coffee & Cream in Exton. We are always looking for new coffee shop or bakery locations for these coffee paintings. Please email us if you would like to display/sell them!

Learn More About the Shelter Pets Coffee Painting Project:
In the spring of 2025, our "Crafts & Kindness" Art Club students learned how to use coffee as a medium. They started their journey by learning about values and experimenting with watercolors. Next, they used their own pets as subjects to paint using coffee. The studio smelled amazing, and the kids' coffee-painted pets were incredible. It was at this moment that we decided they were ready to bring their new skills to the public and do something positive with their coffee paintings. We dreamed... what if we could show the public some of the adorable pets available for adoption at the local BVSPCA? What if we could raise awareness and just find even 1 pet a new home??
Where would we display these beautiful paintings? Coffee shops and cafes, of course! Places where they would feel at home. Where people gather, enjoy good coffee and food, and linger. These are the places that bring community TOGETHER.
Two Chester County, PA establishments jumped at the chance to display our coffee paintings: Good Girls Bakery and Bella Vita Coffee & Cream. They graciously hung our coffee paintings in their shops and the feedback has been amazing! These paintings are available for sale at Good Girls Bakery.
