OUR STORY
Free Range Art teaches the WONDER of ART! We create unique multi-step art workshops, parties, and experiences offering participants the chance to explore art in the world around them in new and diverse ways. The studio in Thornton Pennsylvania is filled with art exploration, hammering wood, connecting metal, burning wood, sculpting polymer clay, blending watercolors, using feather quills and ink, gelli plate printing, and lots and lots of paint!
Free Range Art workshops have opened doors for so many people. Students grow and see themselves as artists in their own right. Those who originally didn't think they were "artistic" learn that being artistic/creative is a way of seeing things... it's a different way of thinking. Classes and workshops have grown into many more options in multiple disciplines... from kids' painting/drawing to teen jewelry-making to homeschool fresco painting to windchimes to "parent's night out" to "tween/teen evenings" to "homeschool art enrichment" to "scout badge workshops" and even adult classes!
Free Range Art is located in Thornton PA in the "Carriage House Collective" behind the Mill Offices on Brinton Lake Road. Now offering classes for kids AND adults in our studio and new event space! We teach painting, alcohol inks, leather bracelets, glass pendants, painting with coffee, and more!
Nothing we do is ordinary and it is our joy to bring you the extraordinary in art experiences!

What are your hours at the studio?The Free Range Art Studio is open by appointment for scheduled classes, advertised art workshops, and privately booked events. We do not have open studio "walk-in" hours but can be booked for small gatherings of 6+ people for specific projects.

Where are you located?Our studio is located on the 2nd floor of the "Carriage House Collective" at 381 Brinton Lake Road, Thornton, PA 19373. Our building (the CHC) is located down a short gravel lane behind a building known as the historic Mill or the Offices at the Mill currently.

What is your minimum age for students?The studio offers art workshops, classes, and special art experiences for many ages and typically starts with age 6. However, we do offer homeschool art for ages 5+ on Friday mornings and we also slide the minimum age down to 4.5 or 5 years for certain art workshops! Everything is on a case-by-case basis depending on the particular workshop.

Do you offer art for adults?Yes! Our adult workshops are a significant part of our business. We have a dedicated page on our website for adult and family art workshops. Some workshops allow children with their parents or older teens to attend solo. Adult-only workshops are BYOB.

Are you handicap accessible?Unfortunately, we are on the 2nd floor and do not have an elevator.

We love animals.
The psychological benefits are manyfold. From infancy through to our golden years, humans (that's all of us!) are capable of reaping the benefits of animals. Whether you are interacting with a beloved pet in your home or an outdoor farm animal, the benefits are countless.
As humans, we need social interaction, stimulation, and physical contact. Animals provide a healthy perspective and balance of unconditional love and acceptance. On occasion, we might bring an animal to art class to provide inspiration and delight to our class members as long as we know that there are no animal allergies. Please let us know if you or your child has an allergy to animals! The same goes for NATURE! Please let us know of any allergies, as we will both bring nature indoors and take the students outdoors when possible.
