I don't mean to be dramatic, but art and design are literally the cornerstones of everything you touch and use... everything. It took me decades to realize how important art was in my own world... I enjoy "making" things, re-making items, painting furniture, painting clothing, making jewelry etc. And the therapeutic benefits are many-fold. But, I want young people to connect with just how important a creative mindset is in today's world!
I truly believe there are two different kinds of people in life. There are those that "see" things in shapes, values, lines and forms like I do. And then there are those that do not. BOTH kinds of people are needed.
But... Please make sure you understand that if you/your child are creative, yet maybe not great at another subject... it's CREATIVITY that makes all other subjects "work" in our world. Embrace the "value" that creative thinkers like you and me add to today's world. Step into the possibility that there may be a place for you/them in an industry you hadn't thought of previously.
Creativity is the cornerstone to all subjects. Apple products would not be where they are today if not for their DESIGN and how they interact with humans on different levels. Keep imagining, dreaming, and creating!
