Adult/Child Needle-Felted Ornament, Sat. Dec.13th 12-1:00
You can make a special needle-felted ornament while spending time with friends and family!
We are so excited for this event at the Free Range Art Studio with Farren from Whimsical Woolies. This workshop was created to offer a parent-child session, but you can feel free to sign up in any capacity; single, with friends and family, etc. The details about which kids can attend without a parent, etc, is below. Adults sometimes attend this workshop solo, without kids, so that they can get an introduction into needle felting, and older kids also enjoy it solo. That being said, we encourage parents of younger kids to attend with their children and learn together. Tickets are sold per person. So, if you are attending with a child, you each need to purchase a spot. Every person attending will make an ornament and receive instruction.
This event is for ages 6+, with the kiddos being under your adult supervision if they are between 6-10 years old (1 parent per 2 children). Ages 11+ can attend solo. (This is ideally suited for ages 8+, but with your help, the younger kids ages 6-8 can handle it. But you know your kids best, so this is at your discretion.) Tickets must be purchased per person/child/adult.
Now, back to those ornaments! They are fun to make and are beautiful on a tree, in a bowl, or even as gift wrap decor! Each participant will make 1 ornament in this shorter, beginner-level workshop using needle felting techniques. Experience the magic of wool and go home with your own personalized ornament made by YOU!
More about needle felting: Needle felting is a process that sculpts wool into any shape you can imagine. Wool fibers are covered with scales. In needle felting, we use special barbed needles that lock the scales of the fiber together through agitation. What this looks like in real time is stabbing fluffy, colorful wool over and over with sharp needles. This can be done safely and is amazing to see!
This is an "art experience" that brings adults and children together and encourages you to play with ART! Felting is addictive, and knowing the right techniques and tools of the trade makes it even more enjoyable! You will manipulate the fibers into shapes to form a beautiful, memorable ornament. Your child(ren) can make an ornament to be proud of, too!

Farren is a self taught fiber artist located in West Chester PA specializing in all things squishy and wool. She is passionate about teaching sustainable and accessible art classes and finds inspiration in our bountiful natural world. Farren loves to source fiber from local farms including her own Corriedale sheep!
