Join artist John Lasonio for an adult workshop designed to introduce you to the vibrant world of Posca acrylic markers and all of their bold, painterly possibilities! As the colors turn to the burnt oranges of autumn, it's the perfect time to learn how to paint those landscapes and beautiful, heavy clouds with a new technique.
In this approachable class, you’ll learn the essential techniques of layering, blending, and color application as you create a fall landscape step by step. Perfect for those who are curious about trying a new medium, this workshop offers a fun, low-pressure way to build confidence and creativity using an unconventional way to paint.
Best of all, you’ll take home both your finished artwork and your own set of Posca markers so you can keep creating long after class ends!
From John Lasonio, Artist: I’m a self-taught surf artist with over 50 years of practice, working exclusively in acrylic art markers. My inspiration comes from growing up at the beach and surfing in Dana Point, California — that mix of calm and power the ocean gives you never left me. I use markers to capture fleeting moments like curling waves and shifting light, building each piece layer by layer until it feels alive. One piece close to my heart is Waves Through The Windshield. In high school, a friend had a VW bus — before school we’d grab breakfast burritos and watch the surf from inside it. How good the waves looked usually decided whether we made it to class that day. For me, painting is still about that same balance — the push and pull of the sea — and creating work that makes people stop, breathe, and feel something real.
