  • Heather Carey has been creating art for as long as she can remember. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and more than 25 years of experience in art therapy, she brings a lifelong passion for creativity to every painting, workshop, and commission.

Her vibrant mixed-media artwork blends bold color, playful pattern, and rich texture, drawing inspiration from the animals, landscapes, and equestrian life that surround her in Pennsylvania’s historic horse country. Using layers of gel plate printing, acrylics, collage, and encaustic techniques, she creates contemporary works that celebrate connection, joy, and personality.

Teaching is one of Heather’s greatest passions. Through her workshops at Free Range Art, she loves helping students of all experience levels discover that creativity doesn’t have to be intimidating—it should be fun, playful, and full of exploration. Whether someone is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or expanding their artistic skills, her goal is to create an encouraging environment where everyone can succeed.

In addition to teaching, Heather creates original artwork, custom pet portraits, and commissioned pieces for collectors across the country. Her work can currently be found at Good Girls Bakery, with Sugartown Art & Antiques coming soon. This fall, she will also debut a special collection at North Star Orchard.

Her work will also be featured at upcoming exhibitions, including The Corner Art Collective, the Bryn Mawr Gala, and the Unionville Gala, with more exciting announcements coming soon.

Heather looks forward to sharing the joy of creativity with you.
