Have you been curious about alcohol inks? This workshop using alcohol inks is perfect for someone who has no experience to someone who wants more experience using a variety of different surfaces and tools. In this class you will:
- Begin by working on a blank 6" x 6" white ceramic tile focusing on the intuitive nature of inks and the fine balance between controlling the inks using a variety of tools and allowing the painting to process.
- Apply inks to a number of different surfaces including a variety of synthetic papers and canvas.
- Learn to use tools such as paint brushes, foam brushes, and hot and cool airflow to move and control the inks.
- Conclude with a thorough review of how to finish your work with the focus on color fastness and longevity.
- Go home with several frame-worthy pieces of your own work!
Alcohol inks are bright, beautiful, and flowing. They are unique in that they look best when controlled loosely and Nina is an expert in just that! Nina displays and sells her work in galleries across southeastern Pennsylvania and is excited to teach you how to make the most beautiful art you can!
What to bring: A willingness to let go and appreciate the intuitive nature of working with alcohol inks in a low pressure, fun environment. You will find that working with inks is very meditative, relaxing, and exciting! Nina is really looking forward to sharing this experience with you! (ages 16+)

About Nina Yocom:
Nina Yocom is an award-winning artist from the suburban Philadelphia area. Her earliest exposure to fine art was when her mother volunteered in public elementary schools with a program called “Art Goes to School.” As a photographer, her father also influenced her own lens. This background, along with a liberal arts education, cultivated an appreciation for how art is a conduit of connection. She is greatly inspired by artists such as Romare Bearden, Marc Chagall and Faith Ringgold.
Nina primarily works with alcohol ink, with accents of acrylic and fine liner pen. She allows the flow of the inks to organically form the structure of her paintings, suggesting botanical, water and landscape subjects. She resides in West Chester, PA along with her husband and senior rescue dog Bella.
