Join us at the studio as Tracy Taylor teaches the history, materials, and techniques for painting with coffee! Choose from a selection of pre-sketched autumn scenes on watercolor paper or freehand sketch your own scene. Historically, the first coffee paintings were made centuries ago, as the brown beverage began to colonize Europe, and coffee painting has remained a relaxing, affordable way to create beautiful sepia-toned paintings.
Why paint with coffee? The best and most straightforward reason to paint with coffee is that it's fun! There are, however, additional advantages worth noting: It's unique! Works of art created using coffee as paint immediately tell a unique story. So who says coffee is only good for drinking? It’s now good for painting too.
Join us as we dive into this fun process of creating paintings using coffee. Choose from one of our Fall-themed concepts, or if you have something personal that you'd like to paint with coffee, (maybe a pet, a historic building, an old car, or even something like a special tree, an heirloom, or a favorite flower) please either email a photo or drawing to Tracy ahead of time (freerangeartclasses@gmail.com) or bring a printed copy - unless you'd like to freehand it, of course.
* The Free Range Art Studio will make vintage frames available for this workshop to frame your artwork...or bring your own frame to upcycle! The approximate size of this art will be 8 x 10 or 8.5 x 11".
The doors open at 11:45 and we will have a pot of coffee made for sipping and enjoying while you paint. We are byo food/drink. The workshop is 12-2:00 and all materials are included!

Tracy is a multidisciplinary artist and founder of The Free Range Art Studio, with a creative practice shaped by over three decades of exploration across design and art.
She began her career in fashion, earning her degree cum laude before working in the fashion industry and later opening a boutique known for its hand-painted clothing, unique designs, and curated artisan accessories from around the world.
Tracy has always been drawn to handcrafted items. Her own designs were highlighted daily in her boutique...and beyond the clothing and jewelry she designed and sold, the store displays were a secret passion. This passion evolved into larger-scale painting of custom furniture, and handcrafted chandeliers for private collectors, reflecting a continued interest in surface, texture, and material.
Today, Tracy's focus is on teaching others how to make ART - creating an environment where art feels both elevated and accessible. Her approach emphasizes process, layering, and intuitive mark-making, encouraging students to move beyond hesitation and into a more expressive, personal way of working. Always keeping it approachable and beginner-friendly.
Drawn to color, organic forms, and unexpected combinations, Tracy’s work - and the way she teaches - celebrates the beauty of the unconventional and the quietly transformative nature of making. Tracy loves guiding students to create expressive, layered work they didn’t think they could achieve - and can't wait to teach others how to work with many mediums!
