DIY Doormat Painting Workshop with The Doormat Company: Thursday, March 19th 6:15 pm.  Adults!  Or Adult + Child (ages 6+)

Learn the basics - and the joy - of painting your own porch-perfect doormat at our Adult + Kid DIY Doormat Painting Workshop!

Looking for a creative experience you can enjoy together? This beginner-friendly class is designed for adults and kids to paint side-by-side.  No experience needed, just a love for creating something fun and functional.

During this guided workshop, you will:

• Begin with a blank 18” x 30” natural coir doormat for the adult

• Create a kid-sized 9” x 16” mat, perfect for little spaces

• Choose from a selection of simple, kid-friendly stencil designs

• Learn easy painting techniques designed specifically for coir mats

• Explore color placement, brush techniques, and teamwork

• Pick up tips for sealing and caring for both finished mats

The child's mat is just the right size for:

• A bedroom doorway

• A playroom or playhouse

• A reading nook or cozy corner

• A toy kitchen or pretend storefront

• Gifting to a grandparent or favorite teacher

We provide everything you need - doormats, stencils, paints, brushes, and step-by-step guidance so you can focus on creating, connecting, and having fun. The class is relaxed, supportive, and paced for all ages, making it perfect for family outings, one-on-one time, or a creative evening together. You’ll leave with finished, porch-ready mats and the pride of saying, “We made these.”

Please select the design you would like to paint from the selections in the photos.  You can enter it at checkout. This workshop will take approximately 1.5-2 hours depending on the project selected and ability of participants.

*Please specify the doormat design # that you would like and include any personalization/name in the box at checkout!

Design numbers 1-36 are for the adult size doormats, and design numbers 37-42 are for the childrens' smaller doormats.

What to bring: Just yourselves, a little creativity, and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit paint-happy. This is a welcoming, no-pressure space where gathering and creating go hand in hand.

  • About Your Instructor/Artist:

Megan is the owner and creative force behind The Doormat Company, a hand-painted doormat and workshop brand based in Pennsylvania. Her inspiration comes from a love of home, gathering, and the small details that make an entrance feel personal. With a background rooted in creativity and community, Megan views art as a way to welcome people in - both literally and figuratively. Megan primarily works with natural coir doormats, using hand-cut stencils and layered paint techniques to create designs that are equal parts functional and expressive. Her process balances intention with ease, allowing each piece to feel approachable, warm, and lived-in (and sometimes sarcastic) - much like the homes they welcome. Through The Doormat Company, Megan hosts beginner-friendly DIY workshops at local venues, creating space for people to slow down, gather, and create something meaningful together. She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her family and continues to be inspired by front porches, shared moments, and the beauty of everyday arrivals.

  • How to Find Us!

Some people say we're a "hidden gem", and we kind of like that!  We're close in proximity to major roads and some of the area's best shopping/dining, yet we are right off of some of the most beautiful rural roads in the southeastern PA area.  We are located at 381 Brinton Lake Road, Thornton, PA 19373

We are located behind the historic Mill (the Offices at the Mill).  When you enter the parking lot, immediately turn right and go behind the main building.  We are a short drive down the gravel lane and are in the smaller "Carriage House Collective" building behind the main building.  We are on the 2nd floor!

Our studio is up the exterior staircase and is byo food/drink!  We can't wait to welcome you to our cozy space!
