Adult Workshop: Alcohol Ink Hearts in Folk Art Frames! Wed, February 11th BYOB
Join us for a beautiful, meaningful evening creating Folk Art–inspired alcohol ink heart artworks! In this workshop, we’ll explore the spirit of folk art - the art of a community. Folk art is rooted in tradition, storytelling, and resourcefulness. It celebrates making something expressive and heartfelt from what you can source locally, and it often reflects the history, values, and memories of you, your family, and the place you call home. All this, with a nod to Valentine's Day!
We’ll begin by playing with alcohol inks, learning how to create flowing, vibrant patterns in blues, greens, pinks, or any color palette you love. Once your artwork is dry, you’ll select your favorite section and cut it into a heart for the focal point of your piece.
Then the magic truly begins:
You’ll frame your heart in an upcycled folk art frame, embellished with meaningful, repurposed items - tiny treasures that bring personality and story to your artwork. We’ll provide a curated collection of found objects such as vintage jewelry pieces, metal accents, old license plate scraps, broken toys, trinkets, charms, and more. You’re also welcome to bring personal items from home to make your piece even more special. Selecting and adding special items to make the heart at "home" in the frame is a really fun step in this process. Each frame can be personalized with hand-stamped metal tags, allowing you to add a name, date, meaningful word, or short phrase to complete your one-of-a-kind creation.
This workshop is perfect for both beginners and experienced creatives - no artistic background needed. Just come relax, unwind, enjoy good company, and make something truly unique. Invite a friend, significant other, your other half, or your gal pals and make memories too!
We can’t wait to create with you at the Free Range Art Studio!
