Tween + Teen Art Night: SNEAKER DESIGN

What if you could design ANY sneaker you wanted? What would it look like?
Tweens and teens: join us for a multimedia night inspired by sneaker culture, art, fashion, and design! We’ll take a look at iconic sneakers like Air Jordans and Converse and talk about what makes a sneaker instantly recognizable - from its shape and color combinations to logos, patterns, materials, and the story behind the design.
Then it’s time to think like a sneaker designer! Students will sketch, draw, paint, and experiment with colors and art supplies (paints, pencils, inks, stencils etc) to create artwork featuring their favorite sneakers - or dream up an entirely original sneaker of their own. Wild colors? Unexpected materials? A sneaker designed for an athlete, musician, artist, or even themselves? Anything goes.
We’ll also create a mini sneaker bag/backpack charm to take home.
This night is all about creative thinking and personal style, not making everyone’s artwork look the same. Students can take their designs in their own direction while learning how artists and designers turn an idea into something people want to wear.
 
Come ready to draw, paint, design, experiment—and create the sneaker you wish existed!
 
Doors open at 5:20, and food/drink is welcome.  Please email us if your student has a food allergy we should be aware of.
