Join us Saturday afternoon, October 24th from 4-6:00 pm for an adult (ages 16+) soapmaking experience! This is a beginner-to-intermediate level soap-making class.

Layered soap and mica line soap both require more control than a basic batch because you’re working in stages. With layered soap, you pour at different times, making sure each layer is thick enough to hold the next without mixing, but still soft enough to bond. Timing and consistency during saponification are key - too soon and layers blend, too late and they separate. Mica line soap follows the same process but adds a thin dusting of mica between layers for a defined line. The challenge is using just enough - too much can prevent the layers from sticking, while too little won’t show. Both techniques come down to precision, but mica lines require an extra level of care and restraint. Sherri from Botanical Bubbles will walk you through the process step by step and you will leave with beautiful soaps!

You will also learn about the history and lore of soap making and the science behind it. There will be step-by-step instructions and we will work together to create your own unique handcrafted soap. You'll take home approximately 10 bars of handcrafted soap, class handouts, and a complimentary reusable wooden soap mold with lid (for first-time participants). If you've taken a previous class, please bring your mold with you - we love finding simple ways to reduce waste and care for the environment. Must be at least 16 years old to attend.

1.) This workshop is $68.00 per person for 1 large soap mold filled with custom soap (approximately 10 bars of soap)

2.) Bring a friend or significant other and work together to create one large soap mold filled with soap to split (8-10 bars divided between 2 people once the soap has solidified in 24 hours). For two people who are interested in sharing 1 soap mold and the soaps, the cost is $98/2 people.

Sherri, our visiting artisan, is the owner/herbalist at Botanical Bubbles and the teacher behind our monthly soap-making workshops. She is a wealth of knowledge regarding all things herbal, organic, and locally sourced. Sherri brings such fun and interesting workshops to the Free Range Art Studio that some customers attend ALLL of them. Sherri will guide you through the steps of soap-making so you will take home a soap mold, instructions, and knowledge to make more soap at a later date... plus you will go home with beautiful soaps for a portion of the price for what it would take to buy them!
Botanical Bubbles began in an effort to find a cause and a cure for Sherri's sons very dry skin. When Sherri began researching, she discovered what many of us don't know... Detergents!
The soap from the local stores was actually detergent. Detergents are normally derived from petroleum and can actually break down the protective layer of the skin. This can lead to dry, cracked, and painful skin. Long story short, more than 10 years ago, Sherri began Botanical Bubbles and continually spends time learning about herbs, base oils, fruits butters, and essential oils. She creates formulas for soaps, lotions, salves, and more and uses them to their best advantage. Sherri shares her love and knowledge of these ingredients at her soap-making workshops.
Due to the personalized, hands-on nature of our workshops...Our policy is that we can only offer refunds if a cancellation is requested at least 7 days prior to a workshop. Exceptions can only be made if there is a waitlist for your workshop. Our artists prepare and purchase materials for each individual workshop and rely on the headcounts we provide to them along the way. Thank you for understanding!
