Summer Camp Week 1, June 22-26: COASTAL CREATIVES!

COASTAL CREATIVES! June 22-26th, 2026

Our first week is dedicated to slightly older students: Ages 9-15. This is the 1 week specifically for our older artists!

A week of seaside-inspired creativity!

Kids, ages 9-15, should pack their imagination and get ready to dive deep into coastal creativity! During "Coastal Creatives" Art Camp, artists will explore the colors, textures, and wonders of the ocean and shoreline through a variety of hands-on, nature-inspired art experiences.

Throughout the week, campers will create artwork inspired by sea life, marine animals, coral reefs, sun-washed beaches, and shimmering coastal treasures. Using a wide range of materials, we’ll experiment, layer, and play - just like the tides - while learning new techniques and discovering how artists interpret the natural world.

Projects may include:

Resin projects that capture the look of sea glass, shells, and tide-pool finds

Watercolor paintings inspired by ocean movement, light, and marine life

Colorful coral-inspired artworks using clay, mixed media, and texture

Posca/Paint Marker Canvases - as taught by visiting artist, John Lasonio

Shimmering glass and light-catching creations that reflect sun and water

Woven and needle-felted projects that capture the warm colors of a sunset

Additional coastal projects, including jewelry, metal work, and 3D art inspired by sand, sun, waves, and seaside exploration

Our camp weeks include a multitude of materials: paint, inks, clay, resin, fibers, metal, and pastels will all be used!

Our focus is on creative exploration, skill-building, and interacting with nature - encouraging each camper to develop their own artistic voice while learning about the beauty of coastal ecosystems along the way. Perfect for artists who love nature, the ocean, bright colors, and hands-on discovery, Coastal Creatives is a week filled with imagination, experimentation, and artwork that sparkles like the sea.

Special visitor! John Lasonio is a passionate visual artist whose journey began at the age of four. His work is deeply inspired by the interplay of light, color, and water, reflecting the beauty and emotion they evoke. John’s unique style utilizes acrylic art markers to create vibrant, dynamic pieces that capture fleeting moments of nature. He has exhibited alongside legendary surf artists at the Huntington Beach Art Center in the “Surfing The Pacific Rim” show and showcased his work at the Hilton Island Resort gallery in Waikiki, as well as other fine galleries around the US. Throughout his career, John has received several awards, further establishing his presence in the art community. For him, art is a refuge - a place to escape and connect with the world, inviting viewers to find solace in the beauty that surrounds us.
