Summer Camp Week 4, August 3 - 7: LITTLE SHOPS + BIG DREAMS

Summer Camp Week 4, August 3 - 7: LITTLE SHOPS + BIG DREAMS

Week 4: LITTLE SHOPS + BIG DREAMS! August 3-7, 2026

Week 4 kicks off with big dreaming and creative brainstorming as we invite the kids to dream and talk about their favorite small shop concepts and imagine what they

would design and build if they could open a shop of their very own - whether it already exists in the world or is something entirely new. And then, they will GET to design and build their own mini shops!

We’ll begin the week by learning how to paint a vibrant pop-art canvas featuring a sweet treat, focusing on techniques that create depth, bold color contrasts, and eye-catching highlights that really make an object pop.

Next, campers will be challenged to develop a full small shop concept. Will it sell ice cream, skateboards, jewelry, hats, kites, clothing, magic wands, sushi, sneakers, or something no one has ever seen before? Anything goes! Kids will think through what their shop sells, how it looks, and what makes it special. Each day will provide new lessons in art techniques to make their vision come alive! Drawing, building, gluing, and forming with clay, wood, paper, resin, recycled materials, and metal...

Using a provided wooden shop structure as their foundation (similar to last summer's wooden fairy and gnome hide-aways), students will design and hand-craft everything their store needs to be successful - signage, displays, products, tiny details, and even miniature people if they wish. With access to polymer clay, wood, fabric, paper mâché, resin, canvas painting, needle felting, and more, campers will truly make mini-everything by hand!

This week is perfect for kids who love miniature worlds but are ready to move beyond dollhouses and into imaginative, art-driven design with a fun purpose. Creativity, problem-solving, and artistic techniques come together in this joyful exploration of art, design, and small-business thinking.

To wrap up the week, campers will be treated to a very special visit from a local small business owner with an ice cream truck! Alsies will be visiting on Thursday afternoon! This real-world connection brings our small-shop conversations to life as kids meet an entrepreneur and enjoy unlimited cool, sweet treats! It’s the perfect celebration of creativity, imagination, and big ideas - served with sprinkles on top.
