Pop-Up Half Day Workshop: Faux Glass
July 6th, 9-1:00 (Ages 6-14) $65 Pack a lunch!
About:
Garden ART! Faux Glass! Melted plastic flowers and beaded garden stakes! The beauty of faux glass in the garden and flower pots is undeniable. We will melt plastic plates, cups, and other plasticware using heat guns and an oven to form gorgeous flowers for your yard and garden. Part of the fun in this project is seeing how the students decide to engineer their flowers so that their design stays together. Holes can only be made prior to melting and need to be pre-planned and a connection of some kind will need to be made to join all the plastic pieces to a metal or wood stake for the garden. We have screws, rivets, nails and more! There will definitely be some engineering discussions! Our second project will be creating gorgeous beaded and painted garden stakes topped off with beautiful knobs. Our workshop participants will be blown away by how colorful and sparkly the garden art can be. Using upcycled CD's, plastic bottle lids, glass beads, plastic beads, and wooden beads, these pieces are the best of recycled materials combined to make beautiful art. We will instruct about the safety of using a heat gun and provide heat resistant gloves but this activity will be done only if you think your child is able to understand the safety issues involved.
